Since my last post about Betfair Pirate, the system has had very poor results with most daya being losing days.

However, the past 3-4 days have seen a turnaround and the total loss so far in July has been reduced.

I personally stopped using the bot about 10 days ago. I will restart betting when I am satisfied that the results are more positive and stable. All lay systems & services go through a bad patch at some time or other, and you simply have to accept that betting has its ups and downs.

It is a bit worrying that the bad patch occurred just as the bot was being aggressively marketed but this may be just a coincidence. Jason at Betfair Pirate has certainly been keeping everyone informed with daily emails about the results (and not trying to gloss over the poor performance) which is not what i would expect if this was some sort of money-grabbing scam.

I will continue to monitor Betfair Pirate and will post when I am prepared to start using the bot again. I do still feel that this has merit and should not be written off.

Chris

There is a fairly simple reason for this and I explain everything in the 12-min video that you can download by clicking the link below:

The past couple of days have overall produced small losses. However, since I started on 5th July, I am still showing a small profit. I will try to produce videos once a week to show my progress.

I have had several emails from people claiming that they are getting a different number of bets matched with the bot than the Betfair Pirate results indicate. This I would expect. After all, if all of the bots (and it is my understanding that there are 100+ bots in operation) are trying to get bets matched at the same time, then not everyone will be lucky.

The number of bets being placed at one time is also likely to affect the odds available – even though most of the lay selections are – I believe – on horses that are in the top 3 of the betting.

To be fair to Betfair Pirate, they did make it very clear on their sales page that it would be an up-and-down ride with profitability on a day-to-day basis (unlike most sales pages which seem to say that you’ll be £10,000 richer by the day after tomorrow).

It is far too early to be able to say whether Betfair Pirate will be a long-term success. Once I have at least 6-months of evidence, then I’ll be able to make a reasoned judgement.

Incidentally, I understand that to restrict the number of bots in operation, Betfair Pirate will no longer be accepting 3-month subscriptions after midnight on Friday 10th July – so if you want to get your membership, then you’d better join quickly.

It’s the start of another week and therefore time for another betting product to be released.

This time it’s a product called Betfair Pirate that will be released on Tuesday 6th July

You can read the product details by clicking this link

Basically, it’s a combination of an automated betting bot and a horse-racing lay service. It is going to be ideal for those people who don’t have the time to set up a bot every day, or have time to place bets manually. The bot is set up once with your betting strategy and it then automatically gets the daily lay selections without you having to manually load them in.

The website claims that there has been extensive beta testing and shows several months of data plus results. They claim that they have so far made an average of 20 points profit per month.

I am currently negotiating for a free trial of the bot to be able to give a more detailed, ‘hands-on’ review of Betfair Pirate.

(UPDATE: I have now been given a free 3-month trial of the software. Such a long trial does give me more confidence in the product. I’ll try to get everything running in the next day or so & will probably produce a video showing the bot and my results)

In the meantime, take a look at the sales page – it isn’t full of obviously fake screenshots and doesn’t make wild claims about profitability. There is also some very sensible advice about staking that is in complete agreement with my own views.

I think this product is worth looking at. Here’s the link:

Betfair Pirate

Latest update 5th July

I received the download instructions yesterday for the bot and soon had it set up & running OK. There was a small problem at one stage for which I sent an email to technical support. Their reply was prompt (less than 15 mins after my initial email) and they quickly resolved my problem. Good back-up support is – of course – a good sign of a quality product.

The bot itself is very simple. there are a well-written set of instructions with it – but to be honest, it is very intuitive and doesn’t have a huge array of parameters that you need to set up.

Once you have loaded the software and logged in to your Betfair account, the bot automatically gets the horse-racing data for the current day’s racing plus the following day. Now this is where some people will not be too happy. The lay selection information displayed on the screen consists solely of the race track and race time – the horse is not identified. I am sure this has been done to prevent certain unscrupulous tipsters from stealing the lays and using them on their own services.

You only find out the name of the horse when your bet has been matched. Also, the max and min lay odds and when the bet is put into the Betfair market are ‘hard-coded’ into the software ie you cannot currently alter them yourself.

You do however have a lot of control over your staking; whether you want level staking, fixed liability; stake as a percentage of your betting bank; and fixed liability as a percentage of your betting bank.

Two other features of note are:

- the option to run the bot with ‘paper trading’ (ie you don’t place actual bets into the market but the bot will record the results as if you had done so)

- the minimum stake is only 10p. This means you are not limited by the usual £2 Betfair stake requirement and can start will small stakes when you are ready to start using real money.

For today (5th July), there were quite a few selections but the bot was unable to get lay bets matched for quite a large percentage of them. However, at the time of writing this post (7.25 pm) I have had 5 bets placed by the bot and all have been successful!

Hopefully, this initial success will continue.

I will try to make a video in the next couple of days – so do come back to this blog. I will also – of course – keep posting about my progress.

My first impressions are certainly positive.

For more info about Betfair Pirate click here

I have been asked by several people if I would reintroduce the scheme where you are able to get free 7-day subscriptions to Greyhound Lays and Greyhound Lays Lite.

This I have now done and you can find full details at FreeGreyhoundLays

Basically, you collect Reward Points by completing surveys (that is how I get paid). Once you have accumulated 50 points you can then select a 7-day subscription to either Greyhound Lays or Greyhound Lays Lite

Visit the site now and register (you get 10 Reward Points just for registering).

Note that I do not control the service providing the surveys, so please don’t bother me with any problems you find in completing them. If you cannot complete a survey, move on to another one – there are plenty available with new ones beiung added every week.

And for those people that complain that it’s too much hassle – well, there is an alternative – PAY for a subscription!

This time the main claim is :

Cambridge Maths Geeks Show You How To Tap The Secret Full-Time Income The Bookies Hoped You’d Never Discover!

The sales pitch follows the usual pattern of claiming that the author of the system – Chris Fenton (why are so many people with betting/tipping systems called Chris?) – who claims to have found the “secret” of making easy money from Betfair.

Claims about the money that Chris is making every day are made together with “proof” that consists solely of Betfair profit & loss screenshots. As you should all know by now, these are very easy to fake.

Chris claims that only hois system is the one that really works – and that all other systems you might have bought in the past were rubbish. We hear this time-and-time again, yet gullible punters still fall for the sales hype.

If anyone does buy this system, please do leave a comment telling us how you get on with it.

If you don’t buy, then don’t worry – there’ll be another similar system along soon.

Here’s the link to the website if you really eant to check it out

LATEST NEWS

Other websites are reporting that Betting Unleashed is a definite scam – the screenshots are fake (as I suspected).

My advice is to avoid this like the plague!
For those of you that don’t know, arbitrage (also known as ‘arbs’ or ‘arbing’) is when the odds offered by different bookmakers are such that you can make a profit by betting on ALL possible outcomes of a sporting event.

Finding such arbitrage opportunities can be quite difficult and that is why there are companies that specialise in searching for arb opportunities. One such company is UcantLose and you can see a typical arb example at:

http://www.ucantlose.co.uk/html/howarbswork.html

So – are arbs a 100% risk-free method of making money from betting?

The answer is – yes and no!

Whilst it is totally correct that arb situations do occur very frequently every day, there are a few factors that you need to bear in mind before you decide whether arbing is for you.

1) Arbs usually involve 2 or 3 bookmakers and possibly betting exchanges providing the odds for the sporting event. So – before you place any bets, you need to have opened multiple accounts with a wide range of bookmakers. Whilst this can easily be done, you should bear in mind that you will need to have funds in the accounts to be able to get your bets placed as quickly as possible adfter an arb has been identified and reported to you. That is because….

2) Arbs do not last for very long (usually). For some strange reason, bookmakers do not like people who arb. Consequently, they do monitor their competitors odds and, if they spot an arb situation that involves them, they rapidly alter the odds to close the arb opportunity. This means that you must get all 2 or 3 bets placed as quickly as possible – because you might find after placing your first bet that the odds for the 2nd bet have moved against you and there is no longer any profit to be made from arbitrage. You then either have to accept the new odds on offer (and risk a potential loss) or place a lay on your first bet to cancel it out (hopefully with zero, or at least a very small, loss)

3) The percentage profit available from an arb varies greatly. The example on the UCantLose website shows a return-on-investment of 24.32%. This is quite high for an arb – most are down below 10%. This does mean that to make a large amount of money per arb, you need to have a large betting bank. Of course, if you are happy to build up a small bank (say £100) by making just a few pounds per arb then you can take that approach.

4) Another problem with placing bets for arbitrage is that the bet amounts are usually ‘odd’. For example, you might be dividing a £100 bank into 3 bets for £36-77p, £42-56p and £20-67p. This sort of staking is a sure sign to a bookmaker that you are arbing. This can lead to the final problem….

5) A bookmaker can either refuse to accept your bet, or he may decide to only accept part of it. This can – and does – happen.

From the above, you will appreciate that arbing is not 100% risk-free. If you can get your bets placed for the right amount at the right odds, then the result is 100% certain.

I must admit that there are plenty of people who claim to be making a good living solely from arbing, so maybe I am being too pessimistic with my reservations. I have certainly found the odd arb myself on Betfair and have profited from it in the past.

I often get asked if there are any tipping services that I recommend punters should look at (apart from my own!)

I usually resist the urge to mention my personal favourites because I like to keep the really good services to myself!

However, I have decided to tell you about one service that I have used for a few years and which I feel is worth your while looking at.

It is called The Midas Method and you can find the website by clicking this link. The site doesn’t look very professional – indeed, your first thought is probably that it looks like those sites that sell rather dodgy ’systems’.

However, I have found that it usually pays to look beyond first impressions and look at results.

Midas Method runs 2 services – a ‘win & place’ horse race tipping service plus a horse-race lay tipping service. It is the lay tipping service that I want to concentrate on.

The service provides just 2 selections on most days in a month, and is a ’stop at a loser’ system. In short, if the first lay selection is successful, then you don’t lay the 2nd selection.

If the first lay is unsuccessful, then the recommendation is to lay the 2nd selection with an increased stake to get some loss recovery. Now i am not a fan of loss-recovery systems – but this is a service where loss-recovery does make sense.

The main problem with any form of loss-recovery is that if you have a run of bad results, then you are invariably placing bigger & bigger stakes on each bet to try to recover the increasing losses. There is always the possibility with such systems that the run of bad results will be such that you end up losing your entire betting bank. Not a good outcome!

However, loss-recovery does make sense if you know that losing runs are restricted to only one or two selections maximum. And this is the big strength of the Midas Method.

The past results are extremely good and show strike-rates that are in the upper 90s over the past 6+ years! I can vouch for the accuracy of the past results data – all lay selections that are shown really were the only selections that were provided to members. ie there has been no ‘fiddling’ of past results to make things look good.

Selections are provided every day by logging in to a Members Area. Lays are usually priced at Betfair odds of about 4.5 or less.

There is a 3-day trial subscription that costs just £4-20 (+VAT) and the regular monthly subscription is £59 + VAT (a bit on the steep side but the selections provided are good. If you have a big enough betting bank, then you should be able to cover the subscription every month.

Here is the l.ink again for the site:
