It’s the start of another week and therefore time for another betting product to be released.

This time it’s a product called Betfair Pirate that will be released on Tuesday 6th July

Basically, it’s a combination of an automated betting bot and a horse-racing lay service. It is going to be ideal for those people who don’t have the time to set up a bot every day, or have time to place bets manually. The bot is set up once with your betting strategy and it then automatically gets the daily lay selections without you having to manually load them in.

The website claims that there has been extensive beta testing and shows several months of data plus results. They claim that they have so far made an average of 20 points profit per month.

I am currently negotiating for a free trial of the bot to be able to give a more detailed, ‘hands-on’ review of Betfair Pirate.

(UPDATE: I have now been given a free 3-month trial of the software. Such a long trial does give me more confidence in the product. I’ll try to get everything running in the next day or so & will probably produce a video showing the bot and my results)

In the meantime, take a look at the sales page – it isn’t full of obviously fake screenshots and doesn’t make wild claims about profitability. There is also some very sensible advice about staking that is in complete agreement with my own views.

I received the download instructions yesterday for the bot and soon had it set up & running OK. There was a small problem at one stage for which I sent an email to technical support. Their reply was prompt (less than 15 mins after my initial email) and they quickly resolved my problem. Good back-up support is – of course – a good sign of a quality product.

The bot itself is very simple. there are a well-written set of instructions with it – but to be honest, it is very intuitive and doesn’t have a huge array of parameters that you need to set up.

Once you have loaded the software and logged in to your Betfair account, the bot automatically gets the horse-racing data for the current day’s racing plus the following day. Now this is where some people will not be too happy. The lay selection information displayed on the screen consists solely of the race track and race time – the horse is not identified. I am sure this has been done to prevent certain unscrupulous tipsters from stealing the lays and using them on their own services.

You only find out the name of the horse when your bet has been matched. Also, the max and min lay odds and when the bet is put into the Betfair market are ‘hard-coded’ into the software ie you cannot currently alter them yourself.

You do however have a lot of control over your staking; whether you want level staking, fixed liability; stake as a percentage of your betting bank; and fixed liability as a percentage of your betting bank.

Two other features of note are:

- the option to run the bot with ‘paper trading’ (ie you don’t place actual bets into the market but the bot will record the results as if you had done so)

- the minimum stake is only 10p. This means you are not limited by the usual £2 Betfair stake requirement and can start will small stakes when you are ready to start using real money.

For today (5th July), there were quite a few selections but the bot was unable to get lay bets matched for quite a large percentage of them. However, at the time of writing this post (7.25 pm) I have had 5 bets placed by the bot and all have been successful!

Hopefully, this initial success will continue.

I will try to make a video in the next couple of days – so do come back to this blog. I will also – of course – keep posting about my progress.

Yet another “must have” gambling product has been released with the usual unbelievable claims about how good it is.

This time the main claim is :

Cambridge Maths Geeks Show You How To Tap The Secret Full-Time Income The Bookies Hoped You’d Never Discover!

The sales pitch follows the usual pattern of claiming that the author of the system – Chris Fenton (why are so many people with betting/tipping systems called Chris?) – who claims to have found the “secret” of making easy money from Betfair.

Claims about the money that Chris is making every day are made together with “proof” that consists solely of Betfair profit & loss screenshots. As you should all know by now, these are very easy to fake.

Chris claims that only hois system is the one that really works – and that all other systems you might have bought in the past were rubbish. We hear this time-and-time again, yet gullible punters still fall for the sales hype.

If anyone does buy this system, please do leave a comment telling us how you get on with it.

If you don’t buy, then don’t worry – there’ll be another similar system along soon.

Other websites are reporting that Betting Unleashed is a definite scam – the screenshots are fake (as I suspected).

My advice is to avoid this like the plague!

I usually resist the urge to mention my personal favourites because I like to keep the really good services to myself!

However, I have decided to tell you about one service that I have used for a few years and which I feel is worth your while looking at.

It is called The Midas Method and you can find the website by clicking this link. The site doesn’t look very professional – indeed, your first thought is probably that it looks like those sites that sell rather dodgy ’systems’.

However, I have found that it usually pays to look beyond first impressions and look at results.

Midas Method runs 2 services – a ‘win & place’ horse race tipping service plus a horse-race lay tipping service. It is the lay tipping service that I want to concentrate on.

The service provides just 2 selections on most days in a month, and is a ’stop at a loser’ system. In short, if the first lay selection is successful, then you don’t lay the 2nd selection.

If the first lay is unsuccessful, then the recommendation is to lay the 2nd selection with an increased stake to get some loss recovery. Now i am not a fan of loss-recovery systems – but this is a service where loss-recovery does make sense.

The main problem with any form of loss-recovery is that if you have a run of bad results, then you are invariably placing bigger & bigger stakes on each bet to try to recover the increasing losses. There is always the possibility with such systems that the run of bad results will be such that you end up losing your entire betting bank. Not a good outcome!

However, loss-recovery does make sense if you know that losing runs are restricted to only one or two selections maximum. And this is the big strength of the Midas Method.

The past results are extremely good and show strike-rates that are in the upper 90s  over the past 6+ years! I can vouch for the accuracy of the past results data – all lay selections that are shown really were the only selections that were provided to members. ie there has been no ‘fiddling’ of past results to make things look good.

Selections are provided every day by logging in to a Members Area. Lays are usually priced at Betfair odds of about 4.5 or less.

There is a 3-day trial subscription that costs just £4-20 (+VAT) and the regular monthly subscription is £59 + VAT (a bit on the steep side but the selections provided are good. If you have a big enough betting bank, then you should be able to cover the subscription every month.

This one is called ‘Punters Prophecy‘ and will be released on Tuesday 25th August at 9am. Now I’m sure you are all gagging to rush off and buy your copy but – before you do – here is my review of the product.

Punters Prophecy consists of a 7-page pdf – the first 3 pages of which can be completely disregarded as regards how the system works. Since Punters Prophecy sells for an astonishing £35, this must make it one of the most expensive betting guides (on a £ per page) that has ever been released.

But is it worth it?

The guide details a 3-step process for selecting low-priced horses to back. It uses free data in the printed and online editions of the Racing Post. The rules are quite simple although there is one paragraph in the guide where there are partial sentences and bits do not make sense.

It is obvious that the guide has not been thoroughly proof-read – inexcusable in a guide that is so short.

Does the system work?

I have no idea. And as usual with these over-hyped products, there is no proof provided whatsoever. The manual does state that the system has been tested over the last year and that the strike-rate is around 50%.

But no list of bets is provided; nor any evidence from proofing to Racing-Index – so you can decide for yourself whether this system seems genuine or not. I daresay that the sales page will be covered with the usual Betfair screenshots suggesting that large profits are easy to make.

(I really must produce a video showing how incredibly easy it is to fake Betfair screenshots!)

Will Punters Prophecy end up topping the Clickbank betting guide best-seller chart soon after it is released. I’m sure it will. Like moths to a flame, there are a large number of punters who are always suckered in to buying these guides.

Without “capping” each bets liability at £100 the profit was £2963.73

Since the launch of The ProSoccer Investment File at the beginning of June 2009 there have been only a few matches that have qualified as “lays” from the paucity of matches that are played during the Summer months. However, the following was achieved:

Total bets – 18

Successful bets – 11 = 61%

Starting bank = £100

Current bank – £182.76 (after commission)

To me, this indicates that even with poor quality matches, the rules of the strategy are sound and provide a great potential for the forthcoming season.

I have already indicated to previous purchasers that, on reflection, I released The ProSoccer Investment File too early. After all, the major leagues had just finished their seasons and upcoming games were mainly from Scandinavia and S.America. Due to the lack of qualifying matches I provided a supplement entitled “Volume 2” that is based on backing teams to win. This was in response to a number of requests for a backing strategy and is based on a set of similar, but diametrically opposite rules. The results? Well, a bit of a mixed bag in truth and this does reflect my beliefs about the difficulties associated with profiting from “backing” football teams to win. The odds offered by bookmakers are generally based on statistics that are available to everyone in some form or another and have reached a point where the “ordinary” punter who is betting in 10’s and 20’s is unlikely to make a meaningful profit.

As we all know, the expected does not always happen and the short priced favourites often fail to win. You will notice that I did not say “lose” because in terms of laying these teams, a draw is also a successful bet. And this is what The ProSoccer Investment File is all about.

Unfortunately, there will be those who fail to appreciate the concept of this strategy and will not see beyond what appears to be a modest strike rate, sometimes with a losing run indicated. This is a pity because it is the long term picture of profitability that should be viewed, rather than any “flash-in-the-pan” success that is spouted by the flashy websites.

With the above in mind I have decided that the recent increase in the price of The ProSoccer Investment File is to be abandoned and it has already reverted to its original. This reflects the fact that the supplemental “Volume 2” was intended only as an adjunct to the original document and should be used alongside but not as a replacement for the main principles outlined in the “core” strategy of the original document.

This betting technique has been written by Andy White who has sent me a preview copy to review.

So what do you get for your money?

The download consists of a 25-page ebook plus an Excel spreadsheet to be used with the system; and 2 explanatory videos for the system and the spreadsheet.

The system is designed to pick horses that you can back.

Quite a bit of the ebook consists of “padding”. For example, it starts off with a brief history of racing in the UK plus a list of the main race meetings in the racing year.

This is then followed by factors that affect a race outcome and a section on how to use bookmakers’ sign up offers to make risk-free profit. Useful – but not the main core of the system that is being promoted.

The ‘guts’ of the system – ie the rules and procedure for selecting the horse(s) to back in particular races – starts on page 17.

The system is easy to follow and can be implemented without using the accompanying spreadsheet. The spreadsheet will however make life easier for some people.

The technique used is not one that I have seen before.

Does the system work?

As ever for most systems promoted with fancy websites and sold via Clickbank, this is where the Supreme Handicap system falls down badly.

In the ebook, the only proof is a table listing what the author claims are the total number of selections made by the system; and the number of winners for the years 2006-2009 inclusive. Hardly convincing stuff!

I am told by the author that there will be more proof on the sales page when it fully appears after 10am on Thursday 16th July. We shall see.

I am still unable to understand why so many system sellers seem incapable of registering a free proofing account with Racing-Index and getting at least some sort of independent proofing done to back up their performance claims.

If I can find the time, I will try using the system and post some selections on here to see how the selection process performs.

I have no idea how much the system will be sold for – but I daresay it will be in the £30-£50 range as most of them are.

The salespage is now live and -as expected – the “proof” that the system works leaves a lot to be desired. There are screenshots purporting to show individual successful back bets. But even if these are not fakes, just one successful bet outcome tells us nothing about the long-term consistent (or otherwise) profitability of the betting technique.

My guess as to the price of the system was nearly spot-on – it is selling for £39-95p

This system is being sold using the same format that you’ve seen a hundred times before on other sales pages. The author states that this is a secret system that will soon have you raking in money daily from Betfair.

I’ve now dipped into my piggy bank and bought a copy of Betfair 10 so that I can give you – my blog visitors – one of the very first honest, in-depth reviews of exactly what is in Betfair 10.

Betfair 10 is supplied as a standard 38-page pdf file. It is reasonably well written by an unnamed author. The company behind “The Betfair 10 Team” is South African based.

The sales page is very vague about exactly what Betfair 10 is – but I can reveal that it is a horse-race laying system.

The system uses the ever-popular Racing Post website for its data and the “10″ in the system name refers to the 10 rules that you need to follow to make a lay selection.

The rules are sensible and – in most cases – logical;  and owners of my own Logical Lay System will have a sense of deja vue regarding some of the selection criteria!

However, I must make it clear that my Logical Lay System will in the vast majority of cases pick completely different selections to those produced by Betfair 10.

One particular horse-race is used as an example for how the 10 rules are applied. There are enough screenshots to make the selection process very clear and no-one should have any problems.

Selections can be made from the evening before racing (useful for those of you with bots) – although there is one rule concerning the going which could affect selections if there was a change in the going on race day (which does happen fairly often).

Lays are only placed upto Betfair odds of 6.0 so there are no huge liabilities involved in following the system.

There are also Betfair screenshots to show that the selection made in the example did duly go on and lose its race. But that is all of the proof that you get that the system works over the long term.

This is the most disappointing aspect about Betfair 10. With my Logical Lay System, I have taken the trouble to proof the daily lay selections produced by my system with Racing-Index. This has shown – without any shadow of doubt – that the system has been profitable every month since proofing started in late-March.

There is no reason why the author(s) of Betfair 10 could not have taken the time and trouble to similarly proof their selections. Could they have something to hide?

Personally, I believe that the Betfair 10 rules are a rational technique for lay selection. indeed, Betfair 10 could be a very good complemetary system to my own Logical Lay System.

But what about the long-term success of Betfair 10?

I am going to try and provide a couple of lay selections every day on this blog produced by the Betfair 10 system. That way, we can all keep track of how well it performs.

Mon 6th July

Over the past few days, I have been using the Betfair 10 system to try to find some lay selections – but without success. I have gone completely through today’s race card and have found found not a single selection that passes all of the Betfair 10 system rules.

This does make me think that Betfair 10 lays will be very few, and far, between. Maybe this is the reason why the author(s) of Betfair 10 have nor produced a previous lay selection history?

I will try to go through tomorrow’s race cards this evening and see if there are any lays for tomorrow.

I’ve gone through today’s race cards and I’ve found 2 selections that I believe pass all of the Betfair 10 rules. The lays are:

The system sets a max lay odds limit of 6.0. Both selections are currently above this limit!
